Background: Jade has always been a thrill seeker, and left the Grove early to explore the world and see what things she could find. Quick with her fingers she never really was wanting for supplies, money, or things like that. She encountered the Order of Whispers, who happily accepted her into their ranks, with her skills proving useful to their purposes. After some time, as a challenge to herself, to see how long she could do it without getting caught, she disguised herself as a human noble and spent some time in Divinity's Reach, socializing with the humans, going to their parties...learning where they kept valuables that she'd later pick up and fence. She did this for months, getting bored of it before they discovered her. Story Fragment ((by Caius)) She decided she might enjoy trying life as a pirate captain, so collected up the coin she needed to buy herself a ship (The Jade Leaf) and hire a good crew that was knowledgable. She knew nothing of how to be on a ship, a pirate, or a captain, but jumped right in along her crew to learn from them, and split anything they found or took evenly with them, not taking extra for herself. She enjoyed it more for the thrill than the gain. She made sure that her crew was well paid, including plenty of paid shore leave, and they found themselves happy to call her their Captain, a fast learner and one who took care of them all. After a few years though she lost her ship. Thinking they were fast enough to ignore warnings of Orrian ships, and hoping for the thrill of a close encounter, she took her ship through infested waters. They were overcome, the ship sinking along with some of the crew, though she exhausted herself helping to pull as many to shore as possible, fighting off undead until those that did survive had to drag her away before she collapsed in her efforts. She gave what was left of her crew huge bonuses and sent large sums of condolences to the families of those who did not make it out alive. Feeling guilty about the situation she caused she decided not to get a new ship, and went instead to Divinity's Reach to wander. Not really feeling her skills, her 'transferring of ownership' of a coin sack was noticed. In the ruckus that followed she ran into a human who later adopted the name Caius, and proved a terrible hostage to escape the situation. Still, she found a bit of amusement for a while in harassing him and causing more trouble for him, though also keeping him from too much of it. In her visits to the Reach she noticed an advertisement for a mercenary group that was hiring and decided to go ahead and sign on with them. Though unsure at first, she quickly found friends among the group, and people who she grew attached to and felt high protective of. She also encountered a soundless sylvari that she fell in love with and was rarely apart from. The group ended up being targeted by a cult, and Jade was kidnapped, twice, and tortured, the first time by a mesmer who gave her the experiences of horrible tortures, at the hands of her lover no less, even though she woke to find herself intact and unharmed. Though the group eventually managed to take out the leadership of the organization, Jade's sense of safety in her favorite sanctuaries in the Grove and Divinity's Reach was shattered, having been taken from both, and she reverted to only living in the Whisper's lair in Lion's Arch, the last city that felt safe and like home to her. When it was attacked she immediately charged in to its defense, with her lover, and ex vigil member himself, by her side, fighting off Scarlet's armies and working to get as many to safety as possible. When Scarlett was defeated, Jade looked to start repairing the city that she loved, the last safe place that had now been attacked. But she was hit by yet another blow as her once devoted, caring, and loving partner became cold, distant, even hostile and turned away, leaving her there and disappearing without any trace of where he had gone. Still suffering from the post traumatic stress of her torture, the systemic elimination of all the places she had called home, and now the abandonment she felt from the one person she had given her heart to, Jade cut ties with the mercenary organization and went to the Lionguard, signing on with them to help repair and protect the city. She focused on her duties and training, only taking breaks from that to eat and sleep. This worked well until the Consortium showed up with the new city, and began to tear down what was left, including the area she lived in. Jade suffered a breakdown and tried to attack the consortium, requiring restraint before blacking out. New Lion's Arch (Short Story) She spent the next many months in the Chantry of Secrets, mostly catatonic. She wouldn't respond verbally or react to most things, though they found she could react to basic commands, like "eat" and "walk." In her mind she was convinced she had died, and that they just hadn't figured it out yet. She waited for them to stop propping up her body so that she would be free to go to the Mists in her death. Slowly over time she started to become aware of her surroundings again, the conversations being said, often without regard to her presence, as she had become like the furniture there. Her mind slowly started to realize what had happened to her lover as she heard about Mordremoth, and she began to act on her own more and more. Lost (Short Story) She was assigned to a charr, Tyipa, who could keep an eye on her and restrain her as needed, and she began again to hone her skills, but drew in new skills as well as they entered the jungle, facing the mordrem threat while aiding Rytlock who had finally returned. Jade used her knowledge and skills even after the dragon was defeated, in finding her lover turned mordrem and defeating him to lay him to rest. Afterwards she encountered Lexus and helped clear the canyon she now calls her home, joining the guild Steam as it formed. Confrontation (Short Story) Jade has since recovered much back to her former self, forming friendships and connection with others, as well as finding ways to entertain her mind and need for excitement. She has made herself some business arrangements, more for the fun they entail, as well as forging connections, and has found herself as second in command of the guild, surprisingly. She takes the duty seriously, wanting to do her best to take care of the guild and her guildmates. Current Activities: Helping organize and run the guild Steam, enjoying her side business arrangements, and enjoying socializing with friends. Whereabouts/Residence: Lost Precipice. |
