NARR: None - rescue/pet only Color: Mink and White Ears: Standard Coat: Standard Markings: Capped D.O.B. 02/2008 D.O.D. 03/14/2011 Breeding Status: Pet Only, Neutered, Never Bred Show Results: Not Shown Notes: Ron is a very handsome guy - he's a nice medium - light brown color with ruby eyes. Either a light mink or a Havana, definitely too light to be mink, a bit too dark to be havana...he's inbetween! He's got that lovely soft, neutered male fur, and is very sweet and curious! He was given to his previous owner by someone who adopted him from the local humane society - so this guy has been through at least 5 places (1st owner, shelter, gifter, last owner, me) in his life. He apparently is still very friendly and sweet, even with being moved around so much. He was reported to be nearly 3 when we got him, from the estimates at the shelter, but appeared younger, closer to 2 years of age, and has been with his previous owner for a little over a year. Like his friend he apparently enjoys running around his cage and tearing up things like hammocks. He had a URI before his previous owner got him, but, despite his age during the year she had him, never has shown any further symptoms such problems. Ron ended up with full hind end paralysis in his later months, but didn't seem to realize that should slow him down - he could be found sitting with his back end on the fleece on the bottom of his cage, and 'running' in his silent spinner with his front feet. He also managed to climb around his cage still, and was very inquisitive and adventurous, and very muscular (in his front half at least) for his entire life. He was still climbing and exploring less than 24 hours before he passed, and passed at home in my lap wrapped in a blanket, after a day spent hanging out with me (after I noticed that he seemed a little more lethargic that day than normal - he even fell asleep while holding a piece of chocolate he had been eating!). He lived a long life, and we had more time with him than we ever expected, and were grateful to have such a sweet, gentle guy in our home and in our hearts. He showed some slight respiratory symptoms in his last days, and it is suspected that this, along with his very advanced age, is what combined to have him leave us when he did. |
