Notes:Triton is sweet and laid back boy! He's nicely built and has awesome curling to his coat, though it is a bit thin, but he's soft and great to pet with all his waves and curls. Nothing ever seems to phase him, he's always just relaxed and happy! We are very happy to have another rex here, to help us ensure we can get the rex gene introduced to our lines.

A strange mass and bruising was found near Triton's scrotal sac at the end of August in 2012. Our veterinarian suspected a tumor or abscess, and he was put on antibiotics and feedings over the weekend with a surgery to remove it scheduled for early the next week. While he remained bright and friendly, when they attempted the surgery they discovered a perianal hernia with massive internal tissue damage and necrosis. To repair the damage would have required a specialist to do major reconstructive surgery, with a poor chance for success due to the amount and location of damage. It is likely that he would have been in tremendous pain for an extended time, and likely that the problem could reoccur even with the surgery. Due to these considerations, we made the difficult decision to euthanize him, rather than put him through all that with such a poor chance of success and poor quality of life that it would have caused for him.

Triton had one of the sweetest personalities we have encountered, and we are heartbroken to not have had a chance to let him pass that on to offspring. His problem is more a fluke than anything that would be of genetic concern to his siblings or nieces and nephews. RIP sweet boy.
