This litter will help us start our fawn line! Their dad is a gorgeously well built rat with nice color and a playful personality, and their mom is a lovely girl with great color of her own and beautiful, large eyes. Their grandfather championed at a show! We're hoping these rats have gained their parents' and grandparents' strengths. This litter should help establish the red eye dilute gene in our rattery, and will be a great first step towards our goals. These rats may carry other dilutes which we will work on pulling out in later generations. We are looking forward to watching this litter grow!

Feb 17: We had one little stillborn baby, and another smaller one that was lost a day later, but the remaining 11 are looking good so far! A couple of the babies are being shy about sharing their gender, and one of those seems to have flipped from looking more like the girls to more like the boys, so right now we are thinking its 6 boys and 5 girls, though that may change if those 2 babies that are being tricky end up being different than what we currently think they are! Everyone is noisy, active, and have full bellies, so Ana is doing a great job taking care of them!
