My ratties that are no longer with us. They may have passed from this world, but they are still in my heart.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Found dead in her cage at night, a few hours after seen acting normally. Had shown few respiratory symptoms months ago but none recently. Good weight and condition at time of death, observations were not consistent with the genetic issues seen in her male relatives.

Found dead in his cage. Had on and off mild respiratory issues but no signs of significant problems and was in good condition at time of death.

MLWR Chiriko - 6/5/2012 - 11/12/2014

Euthanized due to apparent respiratory distress. Necropsy showed over 80% of lungs still healthy, but heart was abnormal, indicating heart failure as the problem.

MLWR Thor - 7/30/2013 - 11/6/2014

Euthanized due to declining quality of life. Lifelong respiratory issues and sudden, complete hind paralysis.

MLWR Hera - 6/06/2012 - 10/13/2014

Died overnight at home. Had shown slow age related decline, slight loss of weight and thinning hair, faint respiratory signs. No other signs of problems.

MLWR Rikkiti - 3/02/2013 - 9/25/2014

Found dead at home with no obvious issues. Necropsy showed severely abscessed lungs. Left lung was completely abscessed, more than half of right lung abscessed. All else looked normal. Respiratory disease, possibly genetic.

MLWR-DAZL Silverclaw - 7/30/2013 - 8/29/2014

Sudden weight loss, pinched waist, hunched posture, respiratory sounds. Euthanized due to quality of life. Necropsy showed heavily abscessed lungs, likely pneumonia.

Some weight loss, not significant. Died at home. Necropsy showed abscesses in lungs, likely causing respiratory failure.

Euthanized due to large mammary tumor that started becoming necrotic. Overgrown incisor required regular trimming. Necropsy showed some lung abscessing. All else normal for age.

Weight loss, pinched waist, no respiratory sounds but signs of respiratory distress. Genetic respiratory condition.

Extreme weight loss. Activity level stayed high. Some respiratory noises noted just before finding her deceased in her cage.

Died at home, no obvious signs of issues. Necropsy showed lungs 90-95% abscecssed, mottled liver likely secondary to lung issues.
